The Wakool Preschool is a small not-for-profit community-run organisation nestled amongst the rivers and creeks of the western Riverina township of Wakool, NSW. The land of the Wamba Wamba Pereppa Pereppa people.

We aim to provide a holistic and nurturing early childhood environment with a connection to our community that fosters the individual interests of each child and promotes learning and self-discovery through nature and play-based experiences.

OUR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM

We provide a warm, home-like environment for children that is inspiring, creates a sense of wonder, and motivating to develop the skills and qualities needed to flourish in all aspects of life. Our spaces are unhurried and allow children to make sense of the world through their senses and play.

CHILD-LED LEARNING

We learn individual children’s strengths, interests and abilities through regular communication and feedback from families and the child. We plan outcomes and goals for children which link to early childhood theories, research and the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF) and review and extend on them using a constant cycle learning cycle.

PHILOSOPHY

Childhood is a time to love and be loved within a community. We work to create a space that is an extension of home and in alignment with the Early Years Learning Framework- Being, Belonging, Becoming. We offer a safe space for children to naturally unfold into their own individuality and promote the Australian Childhood Code of Ethics . We acknowledge that children are capable and resourceful, and strive to provide equitable learning environments that holistically nurture each child through a play-based natural curriculum, developing the physical, emotional, cognitive and spiritual aspects of each child.
